Requirements
Driver (Age Restrictions / Driving licence)
Minimum age is 21 years, maximum is 75 years and drivers must have held their licence for at least one year. A Young Driver Surcharge of £ 12.23 per day applies for drivers under 23 years.
Payment
The following credit cards are accepted: MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club and American Express. Debit cards such as Visa Debit, Visa Electron, UK Maestro and Solo are not accepted. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at the reservation stage and cannot be amended. The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card and named as a driver. The confirmed credit card must be valid and available for presentation at the SIXTI counter on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card. The total cost of the rental, incl. of VAT, will be charged as soon as the reservation is confirmed.

The minimum rental period is 1 day, the maximum is 21 days.
One way
Vehicles must be returned to the pick-up location. One-way hires are not possible.

Bookings can be made online or by phone.
How to book online
Select your rental data (country, station, dates) as well as the desired car group.
You will automatically receive your rental rates excluding possible extra services, these additional extras can be selected by simply clicking on the desired service. We generally advise to select Base Excess Waiver (BE) for client safety. Please enter your personal data as well as your payment method and the extra driver if requested. Please re-check all the details entered during steps 1 - 3 and confirm your booking by clicking on 'Book Now'. Upon successful reservation you will receive a booking confirmation by email and subsequently the invoice for the prepaid rental. Please print these documents and show them at the time of pick up.
Amendment
Booking changes can be made Online (except bookings in Italy) or by telephone via our SIXTI hotline depending on availability. If the new rental period exceeds the original period, prices valid at the time of alteration will apply for the new rental period. In addition, a fee will be charged. Please refer to the charges in the table detailed at the end of this page. Where amendments are made and the new charge is lower than the original cost, the original cost will be charged. Where an amendment has been confirmed and the cost increases this cost will be charged. In addition, a fee will be charged. Please refer to these charges in the table detailed at the end of this page.
Before start of rental Should a change to a reservation be made before the rental begins, the following changes may be made depending on availability:
- pick up date/time, return date/time,
The original rental time period cannot be reduced or changed. It can be extended i.e changes to extend the rental
period can be made to the start date or to the end date of the original renting time period.
- address and telephone number
- add an extra driver
- add insurances
- Booking changes can be made up to 3 days before the collection date.
After start of rental
extensions to your rental contract are possible (subject to availability).
It is not possible to chose additional insurance options or add an extra driver after a rental has begun. Car rental extensions are possible for a maximum of 5 days.
Cancellation
A cancellation free of charge is not possible. In case of a cancellation, the total amount confirmed at reservation will be charged.
Vehicle Handover
Required Documents: Print off of reservation confirmation, valid credit card (matching the credit card given when booking), for all drivers - a driving licence valid in the United Kingdom (if you have the photocard licence please bring the photo card and counterpart) and two proofs of current address e.g. amenities bills. The photocard (driving licence) MUST be accompanied by the paper counterpart. The counterpart provides details of any endorsements / motoring convictions. Both portions of the new style driving licence are requested to be produced, with no exceptions, otherwise the rental cannot proceed. This regulation applies only to customers who originate from Great Britain.
No Shows
Where the correct documents are not produced at the start of the rental and therefore a vehicle cannot be supplied, the total amount confirmed at reservation will be charged.
Checkout protocol
A checkout protocol will be issued when the car is collected. Please re-check the recorded mileage and the fuel level reading and advise our counter personnel should you notice any irregularities.
During the rental period
Accident
After an accident, theft, fire, damage caused by game or other damages, please call the police and complete the Accident Report placed in the car. This also applies to minor damage and blameworthy accidents with no involvement of another party. The Accident Report must be forwarded within 24 hours to our Damage Center.
Loss of keys
If you lose your keys, please report this immediately to our nearest Rental Station.
Cross Border Rentals
Journeys outside England, Scotland and Wales (including Northern Ireland) are not permitted. SIXTI cars are not allowed to cross the Channell. You will be liable for all costs and charges that we incur in order to repatriate the vehicle if you violate this regulation. You also risk invalidating the insurance coverage of the vehicle.
Car return
We suggest returning your car to the SIXTI location approx. 30 minutes before the end of the rental period. Please remember that you must return the vehicle on the date agreed during office hours. Please take into account that on return to the location, the end of hire check by a SIXTI employee can take up to 30 minutes.
The following conditions apply in determining whether the car is clean:
OUTSIDE: Body, hubcaps and windows may not have any mud splatters, insects or other visible dirt.
INSIDE: Seats, footwell, doors, trunk, windows and instruments must be clean, the ashtray emptied. No rubbish may be left in the car.
Car Return Time and Location
The car must be returned to the SIXTI station at the time agreed upon. Please remember that the car return check carried out by a SIXTI employee takes about 30 minutes. We ask that the authorised driver is present when returning the vehicle to provide a signature to confirm the final invoice. A third person will sign the documentation on behalf of the customer when returning the vehicle if the customer disrupts the returning process, leaves the branch and does not sign or if they are not able to present themselves when returning the car. In doing this, the customer agrees and accepts the details noted during the returning process and forgoes the opportunity to object to any additional charges incurred as a result of damage, additional mileage, refuelling costs etc.
All cars must be returned to the pick-up location. One-way hires are not possible.
Late Return
The rental vehicle must be returned at the time and date as detailed on your rental agreement. For an additional premium rate we can extend your rental period. The additional day's rental will be charged at the highest daily rate specific to the rate applicable to that day. A fee for the certain car group will be charged. Please refer to the charges at the end of this page.
Refuelling
Vehicles are supplied with a confirmed level of fuel. The agreed level will be detailed on your rental paperwork. The vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel as it was supplied. If the vehicle is returned with a lower amount of fuel as that agreed, SIXTI will charge you for the missing fuel amount. Where vehicles return with a higher level of fuel than supplied no refund can be authorised.
Invoice
In order to avoid any unnecessary costs, there is no automatic dispatching of invoices. After returning your hire car you can access a copy of the invoice online at any time via the menu function 'SIXTI information'. Insurances
The normal insurance cover for rented vehicles extends to liability insurance with an indefinite amount of cover and is limited to the United Kingdom. Where you are involved in an accident which is your fault, damage occurs to the vehicle whilst parked, theft or the third party fails to stop after an accident the hirer is liable up to the maximum level of the indemnity limit.
Loss Damage Waiver
By selecting the Loss Damage Waiver at the beginning of the rental, you can be insured against theft of the car or parts of it, damage by game or fire, glass breakage as well as accidents caused by yourself and parking damage by paying a fee dependent on the country and vehicle group. In case of damage a deductible amount remains, that can be reduced by selecting an extended Base Excess. The insurance coverage is valid only by driving in keeping with traffic regulations and is not applicable in cases of damage caused by negligent driving or if driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Premium location fee
A Premium Location Surcharge of £ 21.15 per rental is charged at airports locations.
London Congestion Charge
A London Congestion Charge applies for vehicles entering or moving within the Zone from Monday - Friday between 07.00 - 18.00 - except on public holidays. Charges are £8.00 per day payable either in advance or before midnight on the day of entering the Zone. This charge increases to £10.00 if paid after midnight on the day of entering the Zone and the driver has until midnight on the next charging day to make this £10.00 payment. It is the CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY to register the rental vehicle and pay the charge. Sixt will not do this on the driver's behalf. Driver's will be liable to pay all penalties or fines related to late or non-payment of this charge plus a £29.38 administration fee for handling the penalty charges.
